The chat bubble is an AI assistant — and it will always tell you so.

The chat helper in the corner of our site is an AI assistant, powered by Anthropic's Claude. It introduces itself as AI, and if you ever ask whether you're talking to a real person, it will say so plainly — it never pretends to be Trish, Prashanth, or anyone on our team.

Chat conversations are not used to identify you. You don't need to tell the assistant who you are to ask about hours, wines, or visiting, and we keep only anonymous, aggregate statistics about chats (things like how many people asked about live music this week) — not who asked.

The one exception is by your choice: if you ask about hosting a private event, the assistant may offer to take your name and email so our team can follow up. Those details are stored only if you volunteer them, and they go straight to our inbox for that follow-up — nothing more.

What we collect & why

Forms & Email Lists
Only what you typeWhen you join our mailing list, send the contact form, sign up on our WiFi, or ask about the Owners Circle, the details you submit are stored with Brevo, the email service we use to write back and send our newsletter. Every email includes an unsubscribe link.
Analytics
Counting visits, not visitorsWe use Google Analytics and Vercel's analytics to see, in aggregate, which pages people visit and how the site performs. We look at totals and trends — we don't use them to identify individual visitors.
Payments
Card details never touch our sitePayments happen on our payment partners' secure pages — GoDaddy Payments for things like yoga registration, and Drink Michigan for online wine orders. We never see or store your card number.
The Wine Cart
Stored in your browserThe online wine cart keeps its contents in your own browser and hands the order to Drink Michigan at checkout. We record only anonymous totals of what was in carts — no names, no addresses.
